Collapsible Plans

Our primary assignment at the High Sierra Songwriter Workshop was to write a song using "collapsible plans" as a jumping-off point. I'd never tried writing a song in the style of Rilo Kiley's a man / me / then jim (or, of course, Faulkner's The Sound and The Fury, though I can't possibly pretend to give myself that much credit), but this is what came out.
Lyrics:
Ordinarily I wouldn't say word one to a girl
Who makes Claudia Schiffer look like a frumpy housefrau
But something's gotten into me maybe it's the way the moon's
Reflecting through the window of this Greyhound bus and off your pale brown eyes
I'm feeling safe but like I'm having an adventure all the same
'cause I know anything can't happen
Ordinarily a stranger striking up a conversation with me
Is destined to strike out
I have plenty of friends and few collapsible plans
But something's gotten into me, maybe it's the way he calls me
Late again, I see danger up ahead, my spidey sense is way past tingling
I'm feeling safe but like I'm having an adventure all the same
'cause when I get back home, I know anything can't happen
When my da-da-dad goes off to work, I get to do the things that
Ordinarily I wouldn't, like eating hot dogs and banging his guitar
But something gets right into me when he comes home
That makes me crawl across the kitchen, get up on his knee
And then we spin like happy, crazy fools
