Things I learned in the mountains

Another year, another phenomenally fun, exciting, exhausting-in-the-best-possible-way songwriting adventure courtesy the Southern Yosemite Mountain Guides.
In addition to writing a couple of songs, there were many, many things I learned on this trip, including:
- Danny's Song can be quite touching if not done Yacht-Rock-style.
- American Spirit cigarettes are what bald eagles would smoke if they could smoke cigarettes.
- Remember that scene in Rear Window where Jimmy Stewart pulls his pictures onto his iMac and zooms in real far to discover that Raymond Burr has left his satchel on his bureau? That was awesome!
- about love.
- Darryl Eak can be a truly unfortunate name.
- All the opinions you've ever had regarding Sean Penn are probably true.
- Johnny Cash is one complicated dude.
- Remember that one time when Poltz went crazy?
- Cooperating ants are interesting to watch; non-cooperating ones get nicknames and attract a crowd.
- A marmot can chew through a Camelbak tube.
- Raining gravel inspires.
Here's a sneak preview of a couple of the songs born last week up in the mountains, recorded earlier tonight at the Fixx open mic:
The Girl With The Shoulderblade Tattoo [live mp3]
Raining Gravel [live mp3]
Reno [demo mp3]
